Farmer’s Market EBT Attendant
Campbell Farmers’ Market
Compensation & Schedule
Starting Pay: $18-$21 per hour, depending on experience. Qualifies for sick time accrual and annual cost of living increases. 401K benefits after 3 years of employement.
Shifts: Sundays, 7am-3pm (8 hours/week)
Potential on-call opportunities for Friday and Saturday locations across the Bay Area.
Role Summary:
As part of a 3-person team, the EBT Attendant plays a vital role in providing access to Nutrition Assistance monies and customer experience. You’ll be attending a booth outdoors, rain or shine, and at the heart of a vibrant, community-driven event. We're looking for someone who is highly responsible, adaptable, and enthusiastic about local food systems. This position requires equal parts customer service, quick accounting and administration, organization, and some physical labor.Key Responsibilities
· Distribute and track EBT/SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) and other market-related food assistance programs to qualifying customers.
· Interact with customers in a friendly, professional manner.
· Set up and take down the booth and equipment.
· Maintain accurate records of transactions and provide daily reports to the market manager.
· Assist in outreach efforts to increase EBT program awareness in local communities.
· Collaborate with market staff to ensure smooth operations and a welcoming environment for all patrons.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Punctuality and reliability are essential.
· Engaging interpersonal and communication skills.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to work at a fast pace, independently and as part of a team.
· Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
· Comfortable sitting (or standing if you prefer) for long stretches of time.
· Comfortable with repetitive tasks (swiping cards) as well ability to be flexible as needed.
· Comfortable with PC computers
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience in customer service, community outreach, or food assistance programs.
· Experience assisting diverse people of all ages and cultural backgrounds.
· Familiarity with farmers' market operations or food systems.
· Ability to stay calm, manage details, and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
· A very patient and sunny personality, and a good sense of humor.
· Comfortable flexing authority and order when needed.
· A self-starter with an positive disposition, with the ability to work collaboratively as a team player while taking direction well

2. Farmer’s Market Assistant manager

As part of a two-person team, the Market Manager plays a vital role in the success of the market each week. You’ll be outdoors, rain or shine, on your feet, and at the heart of a vibrant, community-driven event. We're looking for someone who is highly responsible, adaptable, and enthusiastic about local food systems. This position requires equal parts leadership, customer service, quick accounting admin., logistics, and some physical labor.
Key Responsibilities:
* Arrive reliably every Sunday for an 8-hour shift, year-round
* Assist with setup, breakdown, and overall operation of the market
* Support fee collection, data entry, and on-site record keeping
* Monitor safety and enforce local agriculture/health regulations (training provided)
* Serve as the point of contact for customers, vendors, and the public
* Help distribute SNAP/EBT and Market Match benefits at the Information Booth
* Provide friendly, informed, and respectful customer service at all times
* Support the lead market manager with daily tasks and step into leadership as needed
Skills & Qualities We’re Looking For:
* Strong organization skills and attention to detail
* Solid math/accounting skills (must be able to make change and track numbers quickly)
* Clear, confident, and kind interpersonal communication skills
* Ability to stay calm and manage conflicts or unexpected situations professionally
* Proven reliability, punctuality, and follow-through
* High energy and physically able to stand/walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
* Enthusiasm for farmers’ markets, food, farming, or sustainability is a big plus
* Comfortable working outdoors in all kinds of weather
Requirements:
* Access to a reliable cell phone and personal email
* A printer and computer with internet access
* Reliable transportation and a valid CA driver’s license
* Minimum 1-year commitment (2+ years preferred)
