Rainbow carrots at the Old Oakland Farmers’ Market.
Did you know cauliflower is a vampire? Well, not really...but it doesn’t want to see the light when it’s growing! The head of the cauliflower is actually a form of undeveloped flower, and if it weren't protected by thick leaves for most of its life, the sunlight would stimulate the production of chlorophyll and the flowers would become inedible! 🦇
Hope everyone is having an egg-ceptional week so far! Have you ever had a fresh, organic, pastured egg? Pastured chickens get to roam in the sunshine, eat bugs and worms (along with a bunch of other stuff!), and they typically live a happier, healthier life than a “Cage Free” chicken. Happy, healthy chickens = incredible eggs that taste better and have more nutritional value than conventional eggs! 🍳
